A contemporary novelist from Belgrade : Svetlana Velmar-Janković

Svetlana Velmar Janković, contemporary Serbian writer and member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, was born in 1933 in Belgrade, where she currently lives. Her research as historian and his extensive knowledge of Serbian history and of Belgrade, the “White City” marked his work in a very profound way. In addition to several novels, she has written stories, dramas and texts for children.
Cecovic Svetlana was born in Subotica, Vojvodina, near the Hungarian border. After studying General and Comparative Literature at the University of Belgrade and graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Paris 3 (Sorbonne Nouvelle), she now works in a doctoral thesis on the reception of Russian literature in Belgium (Catholic University of Leuven / Louvain-la-Neuve).
